As I keep working with our nervous horse..... We were working on standing still. I noticed that when she would step forward she would immediately start her circles on the line whether I asked her or not. So, I started making her back up to prevent this. Whenever she backs up she moves her hips to the opposite side I am standing on. I kept working with her and would use a whip to gently push her back into a straight line, and by the end of the session she was standing, backing up straight and licking her lips. Now, when she is tied to a trailer, she can't stand still. Constantly moving from one side to the other. There is something about her not seeing, not trusting, I don't know, about what is behind her? Could she have less vision in the back that causes this?

As I continue with the horse I pulled out of very poor living conditions, I am making progress. We still have lots of issues, and one of them is respect. She can be very disrespectful. I have gained her respect, however, my 15 year old daughter is the one that rides and shows her. My daughter gets very frustrated and this little horse can test her to her limits. How do I help my daughter understand and work on gaining her respect? One of the biggest issues is, this horse will not stand still for her on the halter, while mounting or just to stop and stand. Any suggestions?

As I continue with a rescued 10 year old, we have gained ground. She has stopped her kicking at other horses. However, after working with her all summer, when my daughter took her to the local county fair horse show, she was out of control. She had been to the arena all summer and seemed pretty comfortable. But the crowds of fair seemed to be too much. She gets real nervous when someone is behind her. She can't stand still at all. She really blew up at the fair and had to be taken home to prevent injuries to her or others. So, does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this horse to settle down in a crowd?

Can a kicking horse be fixed?

I bought a horse last fall that had been mistreated. She was way underweight and very distrustful, especially with men. (the main thing we have in common!:) ) At any rate, as we wintered together, she has turned into one very nice horse. However, the one bad habit that I have discovered is she seems to want to kick other horses in the arena. I think she has been hobbled in the past and wonder if there is a different way I may be able to break her of this? Anyone have any ideas?

So if you want to sell a horse....I think I may want to sell my big gelding. I have had him listed on line and while several people have come and looked.... Is there a reliable way to sell a horse? I would hope someone that can appreciate him for all he is would buy him. Think that is realistic? How long could this take?

Hello, 2 years ago I was in a terrible horse wreck. Refusing to give up I started riding my daughters very broke 23 yr old mare. It takes everything I have to get on this horse. My fear is great. I have a very big 6 year old that is a great horse but intimidates me to no end. He knows how to take advantage of my inexperience and fear. How do I overcome the fear? How do I get past the intimidation of my 6 year olds size? Any tips?
